Sand-tray Therapy with Autistic Children for Professionals

This video demonstrates three sand tray interventions designed for children with developmental disorders, focusing on connection, engagement, and regulation. The first intervention, “Hide and Find,” fosters social skills, connection, and engagement. Participants take turns hiding and finding miniatures in the sand tray, followed by a discussion about the chosen item’s significance. This activity encourages emotional expression and interaction. The second intervention, creating a “Relaxing Tray,” helps with regulation. The sand tray is divided into two sections, and participants select miniatures that evoke calmness and relaxation. They then share their creations, which reflect individual perceptions of relaxation, such as rainbows, flowers, and waves. The third intervention, a storytelling activity, uses the sand tray as a medium to narrate stories, encouraging imagination, communication, and emotional exploration. These interventions are practical tools for addressing social, emotional, and regulatory challenges in children with developmental disorders.
