Shaping behavior

This video explains’shaping’ behaviors in detail. Shaping is a technique used to develop new behaviors by reinforcing successive attempts.

Shaping a behavior is done by first identifying desired behaviors and then rewarding small positive steps toward the desired behavior; rewarding small steps towards a complex skill, which a child generally finds complex, not only makes learning easy but is also very effective. Shaping a behavior is done by setting clear, incremental milestones and offering positive reinforcement at each step; this encourages gradual progress. Shaping is beneficial in building skills like language, motor abilities, and social interactions, as each reinforcement moves the child closer to the ultimate goal and also keeps motivation high throughout the process.
