This Webinar Focuses on ABA, its principles and terminology. ABA is typically used for children with Autism. The goal of ABA are to build skills and decrease challenging behaviour. It is based on the principles of operant conditioning by manipulating behaviour. The therapy focuses on two things: building skills and decreasing challenging behaviours, while punishment weakens them. Positive means adding something, negative means removing something. The learning process includes acquisition (learning a behaviour), generalisation( applying it in various settings), and maintenance (ensuring it persists). Discriminative stimuli cue when a behaviours will be reinforced, and prompts assist in teaching new behaviours. It also covers important terms like prompting, and fading, and how these tools are used to teach new behaviours. overall, it emphasis the importance of reinforcing desired behaviours and the structured approach ABA uses to promote sill development and behaviour change in therapy.
