Using Generalization During Discrete Trial Training.
Generalization can be explained as the child’s ability to perform the skills learned across all the new and novel situations; for example, a child who recently learned how to add in mathematics is considered to be fully mastered in doing addition if he/she is able to perform addition in any new or novel situation.
Why is Generalization Important?
Therapies generally takes place in an environment that is created by therapist to accommodate kids with all the resources available to learn in an easy and faster way, but the skill learned during therapy session is called generalized when the child will be able to generalize skills learned across four areas: (a) people, (b) settings, (c) stimuli, and (d)Responses.
