Going Over an ABA Therapy Session and Analyzing It.
In this video, Paige Layle, the presenter, is commenting on an ABA therapy session of an autistic girl, Abby.
Paige Layle points out in the video that during the therapy session, Abby’s dad and therapist are being too authoritative with Abby and how they are pushing her to do tasks like vacuuming without proper accommodation for autistic kids. Like in the video, it is clearly visible that Abby is having a hard time vacuuming the floor as the vacuum cleaner machine is noisy, and she is not very comfortable with the loud noise of the machine.
At the end of the video, Paige Layle commented that the main problem with the ABA therapy is that it tries to teach obedience training to the kids and doesn’t foster independence and autonomy.
