This webinar explores social anxiety in autistic individuals, highlighting the similarities and differences between autistic and non-autistic experiences of social anxiety. Despite its prevalence, research on social anxiety in autism remains limited, particularly regarding effective therapeutic support. Autistic individuals shared their experiences with therapy for social anxiety, shedding light on challenges and gaps in current approaches. The findings led to key recommendations for mental health professionals to provide more effective, neurodiversity-affirming therapy. This session is designed for a broad audience, including autistic individuals, mental health professionals, and researchers interested in understanding and addressing anxiety in autism.
