About Us: We R Special

What is “We R Special”?

The answer to that question is an attempt to answer some of these questions below, and many more that will come up gradually

• Can we support kids on the spectrum better? 

• Can we support their family members better? 

• Can we explore and assess various “new therapies” shared on social media or the Internet? Can we develop innovative approaches & therapies? 

• Can we identify or tailor therapies that meet the needs of Indian kids better? 

• Can we reduce the cost of therapies? 

• Can we make it cheap or free for those from weaker-economic families?

• Can we find and document therapies and treatments that seem genuine?

• Can we share our findings with care-takers of kids on the spectrum so that they don’t have to reinvent the wheel?

• Can we test new technologies such as tools, tech gadgets, apps, etc and identify what works and what does not?

• Can we create an environment where like-minded care-takers and professionals to collaborate allowing our team to explore new approaches and different therapies with their children to see what works best?

• Can we create an environment which is super safe for kids, and a great enabler for the therapists and experts involved?

But if you’re looking for a more “formal” reply, then “We R Special” is a non-profit organization for development and welfare of kids on the spectrum, and their families.

We R Special is part of Public Welfare Foundation,
which is a non-profit set up by the EFY Group.

WE R SPECIAL

We R Special has a simple goal, which is to find all possible solutions to make kids on the spectrum--independent.

Being a non-profit, the team at We R Special will have the time, resources, opportunities and targets to research and identify variety of solutions to achieve their goal.

And, then to test these solutions on kids and see what works for which type(s) of kids.

Last but not the least, the team will also share their findings with the world through WeRSpecial.com website.

PUBLIC WELFARE FOUNDATION

Public Welfare Foundation (PWF) is a non-profit established in 1981 by the directors of
Electronics For You Group as an endeavor to give back to our society.

Till recently, PWF has been making donations to various causes related to children, and at times initiatives related to our climate and environment.

With We R Special, PWF has for the first time setup its own team to work on causes that could benefit the society.

EFY Group was established in January 1969 with the launch of its flagship magazine: Electronics For You. It's mission was simple: to enable its audience to make informed decisions related to technology.
